Spring Tryouts
Wagon Wheel Skate Center, Brighton, CO
Roller Derby experience is NOT required, but will power and a great attitude are. The skills we will be looking for at tryouts will include speed, cross-overs, and stopping.
Rental skates will be available for use during tryouts.
Please arrive early to suit up and complete paperwork. Interested skaters must be 21 years of age.
Those selected for DRD at tryouts will start the Dollhouse (our new talent training program) in May. In addition, we are encouraging all interested new recruits to join us for the Drop-In-Derby practice on Sunday, April 11th, where all tryout drills will be demonstrated and practiced.

Drop-in Derby

The Wagon Wheel Skate Center is proud to present Drop-In-Derby League, a recreational roller derby league! DID will operate during the Denver Roller Dolls’ off season and will be open to women who are interested in trying out for DRD, current DRD skaters, retired DRD skaters, and any woman (21 years and older) who is interested in playing roller derby.
DID Schedule:
Sunday: 7:00-10:00pm (3 hour practice)
Open to both DRD & DID
1st hour (7:00-8:00): Basic Skating Skills
2nd hour (8:00-9:00): Endurance / Derby Drills
3rd hour (9:00-10:00): Scrimmage
The cost for DID practices is $10.00 for a single practice. Payment goes directly to the Wagon Wheel. Payment for practices is required upfront, the first day you attend practice. After the bout, come join your favorite Roller Dolls at our after party held at the aloft Hotel! It will only take you a few minutes to walk there from the 1STBANK Center so you don’t have to worry about re-parking your car.

Denver Roller Dolls Karaoke Gong Show

Come one come all! Gong Karaoke is back in style! What is Gong karaoke you ask? Well it’s only the best kind of karaoke around! People sign up to sing a song, and if someone does not like the song or just wants to get them off stage they will donate $3 dollars to the league to hit the gong to get them off stage! The Denver Roller Dolls will be hitting the high notes at Bender’s Tavern in downtown Denver on April 13th, 2010 at 9 PM. Show up supporting your favorite home team by wearing the colors of that team. Or just wear any Denver Roller Dolls gear! All this fun while supporting the league, having delicious beverages, and singing your heart out! Bring a friend, bring your family, and best yet bring yourself! Please note it is 21+; you must have ID to enter.
