Sunday, June 20, 2010—Wilmington, Massachussetts—The Denver Roller Dolls (Mile High Club) will face the Philly Rollergirls (Liberty Belles) for the first time. The Denver Roller Dolls are currently ranked #2 in the WFTDA West and the Philly Rollergirls are ranked #2 in the WFTDA East. This will be a closed bout on an East Coast two-day tour for the Denver Roller Dolls, starting with the Boston Derby Dames (#3 East) on Saturday.

The Denver Roller Dolls have only been defeated three times since their victory at the Four Corners Feud in February 2009, twice to the National champions the Oly Rollers (one bout by a margin of only two points) and once to cross-town rivals the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls at co-hosted Western Regionals. Then at the 2009 WFTDA National Championships, the Denver Roller Dolls upset Windy City to advance and then defeat the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls,who had eliminated the Philly Rollergirls in an overtime nail-biter. In the 2010 season the Denver Roller Dolls upset the #2 team from the 2009 Championships, the Texas Rollergirls, in their first meeting with a victory of 130 to 112. Denver lead Texas the entire bout and successfully held off an attempted comeback in the second half. The Denver Roller Dolls may have caught teams off-guard last season, but have proven to be a defensive powerhouse as well displaying a talented jammer line up. The Denver Roller Dolls have displayed an exquisite pack awareness and control, allowing their jammers to cash in on power jam situations and thwarting the other team’s jammer.

The Philly Rollergirls were eliminated by the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls in 2009 Nationals in the only overtime bout, which set off a four bout losing streak to teams from the Western region, following up at the Wild West Showdown 2010 with narrow losses to the Rat City Roller Girls and the Rose City Rollers. However, most recently the Philly Rollergirls have had a three bout winning streak, soundly defeating the Dutchland Derby Rollers, the Boston Derby Dames, and the Detroit Derby Girls all by more than 50 points. The Philly Rollergirls have tough and fast jammers like Teflon Donna and Mo Pain and hard-hitters and smart skaters like Robin Drugstores and Gloria Grindem to keep Denver on their toes.
