TEAM(S)// Unaffiliated

BIO//Julie's derby career [read: coolest period of her life] started when her fellow waitress friend, a chiropractor for the DRD, said "You should join roller derby," to which Julie said "Okay!" In true Julie-style, the first thing she did was read a book about roller derby. She unsuccessfully tried out in May 2008, but any desire to give up was quickly dispelled by the amazing ladies she met on the training and recruitment committee. Julie tried out again in January 2009 and has never simultaneously loved--and hated--anything as much as she loves derby. Off the track, she is a voracious reader, dabbles with art projects, and takes great pleasure in enriching the lives of others. If you know her, you might get kidnapped and taken to fly kites at City Park. Be prepared.

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND//Julie was the girl in school who got As in every class except for gym...in other words, she was not a very good athlete. She was, however, an accomplished Mathlete and won many awards [both as an individual and as part of a team] in mathletics competitions all over Denver.

During the later part of her education, Julie stopped receiving As once she stopped going to class in favor of going to play pool every day. When her Papa learned of her new skillz, he passed down his pool cue from back in the day. But life as a hustler caught up to her and as a result she almost didn't graduate from high school. Fortunately, her oldest sister Sandy convinced her to give up the pool hall and get her diploma. As a graduation present, she gave Julie a customized bowling ball. So while Julie is not yet adept at knocking down other girls, she most definitely can knock down bowling pins.

AWARDS RECEIVED//No wins to speak of yet, but nominated for Most Improved Skater [2009].
