TEAM(S)// Green Barrettes // Bruising Altitude // Mile High Club
PRIMARY POSITION//Blocker, Pivot
BIO//The daughter of a tire-slingin’, homebrewin’ cycling fanatic and a high-energy, aerobics-teachin’ knitting aficionado, Brix, along with her giant little brother, were homegrown right here on Colorado soil. The Western Slope’s mountains and valleys were Brix’s playground from childhood straight through the end of high school. After trying her hand at an art degree, Brix quickly realized that regular college was not the path for her. She found herself traveling the globe with a band of jolly pirates for a few years while searching for her true calling. It was after an expedition through Europe, that she realized what she really loved was food and wine, and the culture surrounding it. She is now a certified Chef and Executive Sommelier. She is also working her way towards a Master of Wine certification. (Thus the name and number; Brix: A measure of sugars in a wine grape before harvest, which is used to predict the alcohol level in the resulting wine. 28° Brix = up to 16.8% alcohol. And Hithouse...well that's another story)
ATHLETIC BACKGROUND//Brix has always been an athlete, though the only real roller skating experience of her life, previous to the Dolls, was as a tyke in the early 90’s at the old roller rink in Montrose, CO (RIP). She got her athletic start with the Ptarmigan Tumblers gymnastic team at a very young age. After taking her gymnastics career as far as it was going to take the tallest 10 year-old in her class, she followed her little brother (he wasn’t a giant yet) to the Montrose Marlins Swim Team. She was officially a swimmer from age 10-18, but one sport was not going to keep this little fishy happy. In her spare time between morning practice, school, evening practice, and meets on the weekends, she snowboarded, dove, wake boarded, water-skied, weight-lifted, rock climbed, and participated in the occasional sprint triathlon. Now-a-days she is a fully devoted Roller Doll and loving every minute of it!
