BIO//Moira hails from southern Alabama, though she didn't arrive with a banjo on her knee. She was a co-founder of the Mobile Roller Derby league with whom she skated for just over two years before heading west. Beyond roller derby, Moira is passionate about communication, science, dogs and happy hour. She's a fan of social media, social science, and SEC football. She supports public radio, independent artists, free spirits and eating breakfast any time of the day or night. Known for giggling inappropriately in the pack, MLD is 96% domesticated. The other 4% is made of lolcats.
ATHLETIC BACKGROUND//It's not a recent discovery that Moira is fueled by competition, however athletics are a relatively new addition to this drive. As a child she championed book drives, fund raisers and making the honor roll. She collected trophies from spelling bees and marching band competitions. When she decided to lace up her roller skates for something other than the hokey pokey, an athlete was born. Moira has been inspired by roller derby and the women who play it, and is thankful every day for the strength and confidence it brings to her otherwise dorky lifestyle.
