BIO//Vinyl likes to kick it old school. Atari, vinyl records and Rubik's cubes are some of her prized possessions. She's a prodigy of the 80's and Gen X where life was simple and house keys were worn around your neck. Vinyl grew up on the East Coast a few miles outside the Washington, D.C area. After living a pretty chaotic lifestyle back East, Vinyl decided to broaden her horizons and move to beautiful and sunny Denver, Colorado.
Once in Denver, she discovered the amazingly competitive sport of roller derby and NEVER looked back. Vinyl joined the Denver Roller Dolls in February 2008, became a Green Barrette and bouted for the first time in May. After some blood, sweat and tears, Vinyl got her wings on The Mile High Club in January 2009 and is now officially a lifer!
Roller derby is a tough sport, but Vinyl's body doesn't let that stop her. Vinyl's suffered major bruises and wheel marks on her arms, legs, and tushy. She's even developed shin splits, suffered a few concussions, and partially tore her left bicep from the shoulder socket (which didn't stop her from kickin' butt at Nationals in 2009). After the April 2010 bout, Vinyl went on a "9 Month Injury" leave. She returned in late February 2011 only 6 weeks after having her baby girl.
ATHLETIC BACKGROUND//Vinyl is a competitive athlete and daredevil junkie who stops at nothing. Her early years were spent swimming competitively for 15 years, pitching for her fast-pitch softball team during high school, was a forward on the field hockey team, ran track and field, and even tried pom-poms for one season (clearly not her thing). Fast-forward to the present----When Vinyl's not rockin' the track, she is an amateur cyclist and triathlete, an avid snowboarder, rock climber and skydiver. Vinyl bleeds derby and is always up for a challenge. So be careful......she'll spin circles around you at speeds of 33 RPMs
