Mile High Club
The Mile High Club (MHC) is the Denver Roller Dolls’ all-star travel team. The team took flight for its first bout in Kansas City in August of 2006. Since then, the Mile High Club has competed against a number of top leagues in the nation, and has quickly earned its wings within the WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) community and among derby fans as a skillful, formidable force.
The Denver Roller Dolls joined WFTDA in September 2007, and earned an invitation to the first Regional tournament for which they were eligible, in 2008. The Mile High Club had a historic 2009 season. The controversial and undeniably talented and tough skaters earned a ticket to their first national tournament, being proclaimed by Derby News Network as “The most polarizing team of the Nationals ... also arguably the most improved team of 2009, featuring tremendously demoralizing defense, spectacular pack awareness and a killer jammer attack“. The Mile High Club proudly took home 3rd in the nation, and helped to firmly announce the western division as a force to be feared and respected.
The Mile High Club had a successful and undefeated 2010 season until meeting the Philly Rollergirls in June and suffering a very narrow loss. That remains their only regular season defeat in 2010. In October, they traveled to Sacramento for the very competitive West Region Playoff tournament, where an upset from the Bay Area Derby Girls led to their elimination and prevented the team from going to the WFTDA Championship tournament in Chicago. During their off-season the Mile High Club honed their skills, strategy and physiques and are ready for battle.
